Earth Sleeps

shh, the Earth is stirring
she is stretching and
rubbing the sleep
from her eyes and
soon she will wake-

but not yet
breath soft puffs against
a frozen dress,
she yet rests and
dreams of spring

a springtime for
rejuvenation
forgiveness
and love

she sends it out
we receive it
and give it on
pay it forward

Gaia the mother of us all
may have her eyes
closed
but Her reign is unwavering
as is her love

her grace flows like milk
sustaining Her children
even when we cannot taste it
even when we are asleep

even when we cannot dream
her light will guide us home
